The island of Krk lies in Kvarner Bay and can be reached from the mainland by car over the Krk Bridge. Its mild climate, favourable location and natural and cultural variety have earned it the name “golden island”.
The sea is rich in fish and shellfish, and the land produces excellent cheese and olive oil. Wine ripens on the gentle slopes, including the famous golden Žlahtina from around Vrbnik, high above the sea on a steep rock.
The island has wonderful beaches, from large ones to small secluded bays with crystal-clear water. Former fishing villages such as Njivice, Malinska and Baška have become well-known resorts. Discover Krk's wide range of activities, sights and unspoilt nature, with romantic walks by the sea or hikes along the old shepherds' paths.
