Pazin Cave Gorge

The Pazinska jama is a cave and ponor near the town of Pazin in Istria, into which the Pazinčica stream disappears. It lies on the border between grey and red Istria and is considered a notable hydrogeological phenomenon in the Dinaric Karst; the area is protected as an important landscape. Several viewpoints, including Vidikovac Pazinski ponor and Vidikovac prema Pazinu, allow you to look down into the chasm and across to the town. The Pazinski krov hiking trail leads past the Pazinski krov and Zarečki krov waterfalls. In the surroundings you will also find the Pazin Castle, remains of the town walls with a round tower, and wooded hills up to about 474 metres high, such as the Velanov breg.
