Romualdo Cave

Romualdova pećina is a cave about 105 metres long at the end of the Limski Canal in Istria, around ten kilometres east of Vrsar. It is named after Saint Romuald of Ravenna, who is said to have settled there as a hermit. Researchers found bones of Ice Age animals in the cave, such as cave bear, cave lion and cave hyena; Neanderthals also lived here, and some of the walls are painted. The cave is currently closed to visitors.
