Fort Turtian

Fort Turtian is a coastal fortress in the village of Šikići near Pula in Istria. The Austro-Hungarian Monarchy built it in the late 19th century to protect the main harbour of its navy. The site lies on the hill of the same name south of the road between Pula and Ližnjan and can be seen well from the Pula side because of its size. Today the Turtian association looks after the fort and holds various events there; the associated Sichic Battery lies in its immediate vicinity.
